Preparation is the whole job

Epoxy that peels up in sheets was almost always rolled over a slab that was never opened up. Concrete has to be mechanically profiled — diamond grinding or shot blasting — so the coating can key into the surface. Acid etching alone does not reliably get there.

Our sequence: degrease and remove oil contamination, mechanically grind the slab, repair cracks and spalls, test for moisture vapor transmission, prime, then build the coating in coats with the flake or aggregate broadcast into the wet layer.

Moisture testing matters more than people expect in Mississippi. A slab poured without a vapor barrier will push moisture up through the concrete and delaminate a coating from underneath no matter how good the epoxy is. We test first and use a moisture-tolerant primer when the numbers call for it.

Cure time and use

Plan on the floor being out of service for several days. Foot traffic typically returns after about 24 hours, vehicle traffic after several days, and full chemical resistance develops over roughly a week. Driving a car onto a coating that has not fully cured leaves hot-tire pickup marks that cannot be buffed out.
