Our exterior process

Exterior work fails at the prep stage or it does not fail at all. Our sequence is the same on every building:

1. Wash. Soft wash or pressure wash the entire surface to remove chalking, mildew, pollen, and dirt. Paint does not bond to any of those.
2. Scrape and sand. Remove every loose or peeling edge and feather the transitions so the repair does not telegraph through the finish.
3. Repair. Replace rotted trim, re-set popped fasteners, and fill what needs filling.
4. Caulk. Seal joints, penetrations, and trim gaps — this is what keeps water out of the wall.
5. Prime. Bare wood, bare masonry, stains, and every repair get primed. Primer is in our scope.
6. Two finish coats. Sprayed and back-rolled or brushed where the substrate calls for it.

How long exterior paint lasts here

In the Meridian climate, a properly prepped exterior repaint on wood or fiber cement typically holds up seven to ten years. Full sun on a south or west elevation shortens that. Stain on a deck or a porch ceiling is a shorter cycle — plan on refreshing horizontal stained surfaces every three to five years because they take standing water and direct UV.

What actually kills exterior paint in Mississippi is not the paint, it is moisture getting behind it. Failed caulk joints, clogged gutters, and sprinklers hitting siding will peel a brand-new coating in two seasons. We flag those during the estimate whether or not they are in our scope.

Spring and fall are ideal — mild temperatures, lower humidity, and fewer afternoon storms. Summer works if we start early and stay ahead of the heat, but we will not spray a surface that is too hot to touch, because the film flashes before it can level out. Winter is workable on the mild stretches; we watch the overnight low against the product's minimum application temperature and reschedule rather than gamble on a bad cure.
