What interior painting includes

An interior repaint is mostly preparation. We move and cover furniture, mask floors and fixtures, scrape and sand failing areas, fill nail holes and dents, caulk gaps at trim and corners, and spot-prime every repair before any finish coat goes on. Primer is part of our scope, not an upcharge — every estimate we write is primer plus two finish coats unless you ask for something different.

From there we cut clean lines by hand at ceilings, baseboards, and casings, then roll or spray the field. Trim, doors, and cabinets get sprayed where the space allows it, because sprayed trim lays down without brush marks. At the end of each day the space gets swept and put back so you can live or work in it.

Surfaces we handle

  • Drywall walls and ceilings, including textured and knockdown finishes
  • Trim, baseboard, crown, door casing, and window casing
  • Interior doors, jambs, and closet systems
  • Kitchen and bath cabinetry (see cabinet refinishing)
  • Stairwells, high foyers, and vaulted ceilings
  • Paneling, shiplap, and tongue-and-groove
  • Commercial hallways, offices, retail interiors, and common areas

What it costs and what drives the price

Interior painting is priced by the work in front of it, not by a flat per-room number. The four things that move a Meridian-area interior quote most are square footage, how much repair the walls need, how many colors and sheens are in the plan, and whether trim and ceilings are included or just walls.

A single accent wall and a whole-house repaint with ceilings and trim are very different jobs, so we come look at it. Every estimate we send is itemized — you see the line for prep, the line for materials, and the line for labor before anything starts, and it is free with no obligation.

Why prep matters more in Mississippi

East Mississippi humidity works against paint from the inside. Bathrooms and laundry rooms hold moisture long enough to grow mildew behind a cheap coating, and kitchens carry grease film that stops paint from bonding. We degloss and clean those rooms before priming, and we specify washable, moisture-tolerant finishes in wet areas rather than a flat wall paint that will not survive being wiped down.

Answers

Interior Painting — common questions

How long does it take to paint the interior of a house?

Most single-family interior repaints in the Meridian area take two to five working days. A single room is usually one day. Whole-house jobs that include ceilings, trim, and doors run closer to a week. We give you a firm day count in the written estimate before we start.

Do I need to move out while you paint?

No. We work room by room so you keep the rest of the house usable, and we clean up at the end of each day. Modern low-VOC interior paints have very little odor, so most families stay in the home for the whole project.

Do you include primer, or is that extra?

Primer is included in ACo. Painting's scope. Every interior estimate we write is primer plus two finish coats. We do not quote a job as two coats of finish over bare or patched drywall.

Do you move the furniture?

We move and cover normal furniture as part of the job. We ask that you handle anything fragile, valuable, or personal — electronics, artwork, and collectibles — before we arrive.

What paint brands do you use?

We default to Sherwin-Williams products and color matching. If you have a brand or a specific product you prefer, tell us in the estimate and we will price it that way.
