Soft washing vs. pressure washing — the difference

They are not the same service, and using the wrong one causes real damage.

Soft washing uses low pressure — about the force of a garden hose — combined with a cleaning solution that kills mildew, algae, and organic growth at the root. It is the correct method for roofs, painted siding, stucco, E.I.F.S., screens, and anything that water can be forced behind.

Pressure washing uses mechanical force to strip dirt off hard surfaces. It belongs on concrete driveways, sidewalks, brick, block, and heavy equipment — surfaces that cannot be etched or driven into.

High pressure on a shingle roof strips granules. High pressure on wood siding raises the grain and drives water behind the boards. High pressure on E.I.F.S. can breach the finish coat outright. We pick the method by substrate, every time.
